The well-known 20th century French painter and graphic artist André Dunoyer de Segonzac was charmed by Saint-Tropez from the time of his first visit and lived there until the end of his days. It is therefore natural for the Musée de l'Annonciade, of which he was curator, to pay homage to the artist with a dedicated exhibition. The ideal place to exhibit the artist’s works
Through his interplay of colours and materials, André Dunoyer de Segonzac gave his landscapes, still lifes and nudes a light and an atmosphere that is instantly recognisable at first glance. Several of these works will be on display from December 1st, 2021, to April 30th, 2022, in the charming chapel of the Annonciade, dating from the 16th century. Under the rounded vaults, in beautiful Mediterranean hues, the canvases of André Dunoyer de Segonzac find their perfect setting.

The curator of the exhibition dedicated to André Dunoyer de Segonzac wanted to highlight the links connecting the artist with the town and its inhabitants, hence the title. Tropéziens were asked to provide anecdotes and talk about the place of the artist, who died in 1974, in their lives. Thus, the works are accompanied by numerous documents of all kinds, some official, others very intimate and moving. The exhibition focusses on tracing the painter's deep bond with his beloved Saint-Tropez and reflects the influence that the latter and its inhabitants had on his creativity.
