A popular summer destination for its beaches and nightlife, Saint-Tropez also offers much to enjoy during the winter. Come with us as the Bastide de Saint-Tropez team takes you on a winter stroll around the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.
Discovering the Gulf
Even in the heart of winter, Saint-Tropez benefits from an extremely mild climate which allows you to enjoy the warming winter sun and take lovely walks. You can go for a picturesque hike on the coastal paths that wind around the peninsula and offer magnificent views of the entire Gulf and its carefully preserved natural environment. The one that takes you from the Tour du Portalet to Cap du Pinet is approximately 11 km or a little over three hours of walking. Or you might prefer the challenge of a hike on the magnificent trails of the Massif des Maures, the unspoiled mountain range that looms over the coast.
Picturesque villages to discover
The Gulf of Saint-Tropez also has some delightful villages, each with its own personality. The calm of the winter season allows you to explore them at your own pace, away from the summer crowds. In a setting of vineyards and forest, overlooking the sea, Gassin and its medieval streets are dominated by the silhouette of the old castle tower. After a stroll in the historic centre of Grimaud, discover the lakeside town of Port-Grimaud and its astonishing architecture. Finally, Cogolin, ideally located between the sea and the hills of the hinterland, is the guardian of Provençal traditions and artisanship.
Each member of the Bastide de Saint-Tropez team knows a path that they like to share. Full of character, varied and carefully preserved, the Gulf of Saint-Tropez has some wonderful surprises in store for you to discover during your winter wanderings, under the gentle sun of Provence.
