The fantastic ride of the Rétropézien

The month of April offers a real treat for fans of vintage motorcycles when Rétropézien roars on to the scene during the 6th and 7th. The event’s 26th edition brings back all the elements that have made Rétropézien such a resounding annual success. The fortunate owners of beautiful bikes dating from before 1960 come to socialise with like-minded enthusiasts and show off their magnificent machines. They get together on the Place des Lices, then these knights and their mounts roar off on an exhilarating mass ride in the Massif des Maures. On Saturday morning, the Marché Provençal brings together all the participants for a tasting of delicious regional products before the prize-giving ceremony. Finally, the municipality invites everyone to a grand and convivial aperitif. Warmly inclusive and friendly, this event paves the way for the other motoring events of spring. 

Dolce vita and Bella Strada

After the motorcycles it’s the turn of the classic cars in the spotlight. April 13th and 14th bring Bella Strada, an event focussing on autos dating from the years 1945 to 1975. Exhibited on the Suffren and Jaurès quays, they bring this fine spring weekend a sleek and colourful blast from the past. Come along and meet the automotive idols of yesteryear, especially the icons of the 50s and 60s. You’ll thrill to the sight of these four-wheeled masterpieces purring on the streets of the resort and cruising the area’s roads. They fit in so well with the spring landscape where oleanders and bougainvillea are already providing a gorgeous backdrop. Bringing together passion, nostalgia and aesthetics, Bella Strada revives the fondest memories of Saint-Tropez and offers a perfect transition to the third automotive event of the month; the Salon de l'Automobile et de la Moto, which brings us bang up to date. 

An automobile and motorcycle show, Mediterranean-style

At the Saint-Tropez Salon de l'Automobile et de la Moto (Automobile and Motorcycle Show), you’ll find all the essential ingredients for a major international car show, including new models, French and international manufacturers, and an exhibition of more than 200 different cars. But what makes this event truly unique is, of course, its setting. All these beautiful machines are on show from April 12th to 15th in the port of Saint-Tropez. A few steps from the multicoloured fishing vessels and the yachts of vacationers, they gleam in the April sunshine. Discover the latest sedans, SUVs, hybrids and family cars before heading to the Marché Provencal, enjoying a coffee on the terrace or indulging in a game of petanque on the Place des Lices. As the locals will tell you, it’s a whole different experience than being stuck in the confines of an exhibition centre!
