While traders and artisans have been getting ready for several weeks, the Christmas season truly kicks off in Saint-Tropez on December 3rd with the grand switch-on of the Christmas illuminations. The lighting of all the decorations at 18:00 is a wonderfully celebratory moment. There’s a beautiful sparkling Christmas tree and many gorgeous decorations as well as the traditional nativity scene in the Eglise de la Miséricorde. Don’t miss the opportunity to stroll on the quays and see the light show that brings a magical Yuletide atmosphere to the seafront.

Shopping and ice skating

The inauguration of the illuminations takes place at the same time as the ice rink opens in the Place des Lices. In summer, the square is where pétanque players gather, but during the mild Provençal winters it becomes the perfect setting for ice skating. A few streets away, in the Place du XVe Corps de Garde, you’ll find the charming little chalets of the Christmas market and its wide choice of traditional local products, the fruits of an artisanal tradition that is still very much alive in our region.
