In the 1950s, pâtissier Alexandre Micka, based in the heart of Saint-Tropez, supplied his regular customers with a delicacy made from a recipe passed down to him by his Polish grandmother. It was a brioche cake, split and filled with a mixture of crème pâtissière and buttercream and dusted with sprinkles of sugar. Hired to feed the crew making the soon-to-be famous film And God Created Woman, Alexandre Micka introduced his specialty to Brigitte Bardot, who was delighted by it. From then on, the success of the tarte tropézienne was assured…
